This deep, dark brown beer is based on a Quadrupel. Aged for two years in a Bourbon barrel from ‘Het Anker’ (Barrel Boutique), it has developed a complex flavor profile of chocolate, dried fruits such as raisins and plums, hints of vanilla and caramel. The finish is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a fine dessert wine, with a lingering sweetness.
This beer has the same base as Miðfoss, with the difference that Miðfoss has aged for two years in whisky casks. The beer is finished with our Goðafoss.
Brúarfoss is located in the west of Iceland, in the Brúará river, which is also where the waterfall gets its name. "Brúará" means "bridge river" in Icelandic, referring to a natural stone bridge that once spanned the river. This bridge was destroyed in 1602 after a famine struck. Beggars and farmers used the bridge to cross the river towards the village of Skálholt, where they begged for food. The locals, tired of the begging, eventually destroyed the bridge.
